Update on Christmas Escapees

LIBERTY, December 27, 2004 – Anthony Fowler and Arthur Lavel Jones escaped from the Old Jail in Liberty County early Christmas morning.

 

	Fowler who was captured a short time after the escape in the South Liberty Oilfield off NPT Road was being held in jail as a pre-trial detainee on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Revocation of Probation. He is scheduled to appear in court on January 4, 2005.
	Jones was being held in jail as the result of his conviction on charges of Resisting Arrest, Evading Arrest and Criminal Mischief. He was ordered into the work program but not outside of the jail. He is also a pre-trial detainee on two Aggravated Assault charges. Arthur Lavel Jones is described as a black male, age 32, 5'-11" tall, weighing 190 lbs.

At press time Jones remains on the loose and is possibly armed with a small caliber handgun and considered dangerous.
