Early Morning Fire in Ames VIDEO STORY

AMES, November 19, 2004 - At 2:28 AM on Friday, neighbors living near the 200 block of FM 160 North in Ames were notified of a house fire fully involved in flames.

The Ames Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene and shortly after the Hull-Daisetta Volunteer Fire Department and Hardin Volunteer Fire responded with mutual aid to fight the blaze as well.

The house was the former residence of Sonya Stelly who was thought to have left the home a few days ago. Earlier today, local residents saw someone removing belongs from the house.

Electric utilities had been disconnected and of particular concern to firefighters was a propane tank located behind the house. Water was sprayed on the tank to help keep it cool according to firefighters.

County Fire Marshall Jim Wilson was notified of this early morning fire by firefighters on the scene.

The fire was thought to be suspicious in nature.
