Early Morning Accident in Hardin

HARDIN, December 12, 2004 - Around 2:00 AM on Sunday morning a maroon Ford Dually 4x4 pickup traveling north on CR 2058 left the roadway to the right on a small bridge. The pickup crashed through the guardrail and collided with the embankment of the ditch and rolled over coming to rest on the passenger side after striking a tree.

A passing motorist reported the accident to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department. There was no one around the truck at the time the accident was reported.

Investigators at the scene noticed the keys were left in the vehicle.

As officers began to investigate the accident the owner of the pickup, Randall Cooper of Hardin, who lived nearby, notified the Sheriff’s Department that his vehicle had been stolen.

The pickup suffered heavy damage in the accident, which remains under investigation.
