Manufactured Home Burns in Dayton Oaks

DAYTON, December 29, 2004 – At 6:11 PM on Wednesday the Highway 321 Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fully involved manufactured home fire in the 700 Block of CR 2339 in the Dayton Oaks Subdivision off SH 321 north of Dayton.

The Kenefick Volunteer Fire Department and the Dayton Volunteer Fire Department responded as well to assist in putting out this fire that threaten adjacent woods and trees.

According to Highway 321 VFD Chief, Wesley Edwards, the singlewide manufactured home was fully involved upon arrival of his department, which responded quickly from their fire station not far from the fire’s location.

Firefighters quickly determined the home was unoccupied and appeared to be abandoned. There were no utilities connected to the home.

The sound of ammunition exploding inside the house could be heard by responding firefighters.

There are several unoccupied manufactured homes in this neighborhood.

Firefighters got the fire under control and started the job of extinguishing the remains of the structure, which was completely destroyed in the blaze.
