James Pelloat Arraigned on Additional Charges

NEWTON, November 10, 2004 - The former Dayton High School Band Director, working as a band director in Newton, TX and charged with sexually assaulting two students was arraigned Wednesday on two other charges of improper relationship between student and teacher. 57-year-old James Pelloat (PELL-WATT) is now in jail on a $1.5 million bond.

Wednesday, the Chief Sheriff’s Deputy in Newton said there are at least three more potential victims involved in this case. The Sheriff’s Office says the alleged sexual assaults may have taken place at the high school, at Pelloat’s residence and his motor home.

The Sheriff’s Office says this investigation will continue as long as more names keep coming out and victims come forth.

Chief Deputy Robert Walker says Texas Rangers are expected to release more information on this case Thursday.

Pelloat resigned Monday from Newton High School and remains in the Newton County Correctional Center with a $1.5 million bond.
