House Consumed by Fire off FM 563 LIBERTY, November 20, 2004 - Only minutes after 12:00 Noon on Saturday, the Moss Bluff, Hull-Daisetta and Liberty Volunteer Fire Departments responded to a house fire on FM 563 just south of the old flume on PR 138.
When firefighters arrived the doublewide manufactured home was suffering heavy damage by fire on the rear of the home. Heavy smoke was traveling south across FM 563 reducing visibility in the area.
Firefighters from Liberty attacked the blaze in the rear while Hull-Daisetta Firefighters made entry in the front of the home. The house was the residence of Donna Wiebelhaus and her husband Roger who had lived there for several years with their horses. The horses were in their stables in a barn near the house. According to Mrs. Wibelhouse, she was working in the barn when her husband joined her and forgot about food cooking in the kitchen. According to firefighters, although the exterior walls were still standing, the interior of the home was a total loss. Give us your Feedback about this story! |
