Car Ruptures Gas Line in Raywood

RAYWOOD, November 22, 2004 - Around 10:15 PM on Sunday a white Mitsubishi Gallant slid off the CR 190 near the railroad tracks while trying to avoid a wild animal and struck a natural gas line operated by Panther Gas Co.

According to investigating DPS Troopers the vehicle was driven by Justin Berry age 18 of Raywood. After the accident a natural gas leak occurred. The driver got out of the vehicle leaving it running. Gas fumes quickly caused the vehicles engine to die.

The Raywood and Devers Fire Department responded to the scene. Mr. John D. Wright of Panther Gas arrived quickly on the scene and turned the gas off which affected about 20 Panther Gas customers. Repairs were scheduled to be made on Monday morning.
