Lower Trinity Valley Bird Club

LIBERTY, November 27, 2004 - The Lower Trinity Valley Bird Club will host a presentation by David Sarkozi on “Birds of Costa Rica” at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 11 at the First Liberty National Bank, located at 1900 Sam Houston, Liberty. David made his first birding trip to the tropics in 1995 and shortly after started organizing informal trips to Belize, Costa Rica, and Mexico. He has made more than fifteen trips to the Tropics. Last year, along with his wife Cheryl, they formed a tour company, Kozi Birding, which leads "relaxed tours in beautiful places."

David is currently president-elect of the Texas Ornithological Society and will take office as president in April 2005. He served two years as chairman of the Outdoor Nature Club Ornithology Group. He was also editor of the Clearing House column for the OG the last 5 years. He served as President of the Friends of Anahuac Refuge for 4 years and has been on the board since its founding.

He currently manages TEXBIRDS, the Texas birding e-mail list, currently with 1800 subscribers and is also the compiler of the Houston and New Braunfels Christmas Bird Counts. David was one of the compilers of the 8th edition of the "Birders Checklist of the Upper Texas Coast" and was author of the Houston Chapter of the "A Birder's Guide to Metropolitan Areas" in the American Bird Association birdfinding series.
