Suspect in Shooting Spree Captured

PLUM GROVE, December 30, 2004 - About 4:30 AM a report came to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office of shots fired in the area of SH 321 about one mile south of FM 1008. Deputies responded to the scene and discovered that a car had been shot up.

Residents reported hearing the sound of what was thought to be fully automatic rifle fire in three shot bursts. The actor possible had a shotgun as well.

The actor, identified, as Jason Enloe age 30 of Cleveland is an ex-boy friend of a woman involved in a domestic disturbance staying in a house at the location located a short distance off the SH 321.

Enloe communicated with his ex-girl fiend indicating by phone telling her he was going to shoot himself in the woods.

The Baytown Swat Team was called and arrived around 6:00 AM Thursday morning. The SWAT Team did not want to enter the woods until an aerial search of the area could be accomplished, according to Captain Billy Tidwell of the LCSO. The aerial search conducted by a DPS Helicopter was delayed until morning fog in the area had lifted making flying at low altitude safe.

According to Captain Tidwell, at about 12:30 PM on Thursday, Enloe was taken into custody near the City Hall in Plum Grove of FM 1011. He had apparently traveled through the wooded area west toward Harris County from the location of this morning’s incident.

At press time, Enloe is being transported back to the incident command post on SH 321 for processing and then will be going to the Liberty County Jail.
