Rear End Collision Sends 7-year-old to Hospital HARDIN, December 29, 2004 - At 5:06 PM on Wednesday, Liberty County EMS responded to a two-vehicle accident on SH 146 at the intersection of FM 834 in Hardin.
According to DPS Trooper Jack Dean, a green Ford Focus traveling south on SH 146 failed to apply its brakes in time and collided with a blue Ford Mustang that was stopped at the red light. The force of the collision pushed the Mustang through the intersection.
Patricia Hobbs age 53 of Liberty was the driver of the Mustang and was not injured in the accident. The Ford Focus was occupied by its driver, Robert Himburg age 60 of Horseshoe Lake Estates, his wife and his grandson, Richard Himburg age 7. According to Trooper Dean all parties were wearing seat belts and the air bags in the Ford Focus deployed during the accident. Richard Himburg was transported by Liberty County EMS in stable condition to Liberty Dayton Community Hospital suffering a laceration above the right eye. He was in stable condition.
