LCSO Deputy in Iraq IRAQ, December 2, 2004 - Today i-dineout.com heard from Corporal Jason R. Mouton who is in Alpha Company 1/23 (the Houston Marines). Corporal Mouton has been in Iraq since August of this year. He was activated in June and spent time in 29 Palms California for training before being deployed to Iraq. Corporal Mouton was a Deputy with the Liberty County Sheriffs Department before being activated into military service in Iraq.
Corporal Mouton tells us he has given up his Crown Victoria for a Hummer equipped with .50 caliber machine gun mounted on the turret which proudly displays a set of custom Liberty County Sheriffs Department Patrol decals. According to Corporal Mouton, his job in Iraq is similar to his work in Liberty County except he gets shot at more often there than in Liberty County. We have been doing a good job of arresting and by other means getting terrorists off of the Streets Iraq. I believe that since we have been here, we have helped to make Iraq a more stable country. We patrol in the city that we are assigned to by vehicle and on foot. It has been very exciting since Ive been here. I thought that I had seen a lot of action being a deputy. My experiences as a peace officer has certainly given me an advantage out here, however nothing could ever prepare me for the experience of combat, said Corporal Mouton. Corporal Mouton married his wife Elissa in April of this year and they are expecting their first child. You can contact Corporal Mouton at the following e-mail address:
