Liberty City Council to Revisit Manufactured Home Ordinance

LIBERTY, December 17, 2004 – Residents of the Briargate Subdivision voiced there concerns to Liberty City Council members on Tuesday night concerning the extension of the Manufactured Home Ordinance to included Briargate Subdivision and surrounding areas in Liberty.

Residents had also requested a moratorium on placing future manufactured homes in the area. According to City Attorney Bruce Mintz Council did not have subject matter jurisdiction to pass such a moratorium under City Charter or State Law.

Briargate residents spearheaded by Candy Parker, a Briargate Resident and an employee of the City of Liberty working in the Building Permit and Inspection Department, sent a letter to Mayor Bruce Halstead with a list of signatures and a map indicating the area which they would like included in the No Manufactured Home Zone.

It was City Councilman Mark Beausoliel that recommended council address this request in a workshop and also consider other areas of the city, which may be similar in light of recent annexations.

Liberty City Council will meet in a workshop on Tuesday, December 21, 2004 to address this and other issues.
