Thanksgiving Travelers Will See Lower Gas Prices HOUSTON, November 23, 2005 - Gasoline prices have dropped for the seventh straight week as millions of Texas motorists head out on the busiest travel day of the year — the day before Thanksgiving, according to AAA Texas' Weekend Gas Watch. The statewide average price for a gallon of regular self serve is $2.109 a gallon — a weekly drop of seven cents. The highest average on the survey this week is the city of Beaumont at $2.203 a gallon — down eight cents. The Alamo City, which ranked as the most popular travel destination for Texans this Thanksgiving, averages $2.035 a gallon — an eight cent decrease. Corpus Christi has the lowest average this week at $1.944 a gallon — down five cents. "Although Thanksgiving is the busiest travel holiday of the year, it is conceivable that prices could fall even lower throughout the weekend," AAA Texas spokesperson Rose Rougeau said. "Despite these latest decreases, pump prices remain about 30 cents higher per gallon than last year's averages." The national average for regular self-serve gasoline is $2.189 a gallon — eight cents lower than last week's average. Average Daily Prices as of November 23, 2005:
