Motorcycle Accident Sends Father and Son to Hospital AMES, November 24, 2005 - A black Honda Shadow motorcycle traveling south on FM 160 lost control in the first curve south of US 90 on Sunday around 11:40 AM on Thanksgiving.
The bike was driven by Richard Thurston Hearn age 35 of Liberty. The passenger was the driver’s son, Trace Hearn age 9 of Liberty. The bike left the roadway to the right in the curve going into the deep ditch spilling the driver and passenger. The driver suffered numerous scrapes and the 9-year-old boy suffered injuries to his right arm. Liberty County EMS responded to the scene transporting both the father and son to Beaumont’s St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment. According to the investigating DPS Trooper, Hearn will receive citations for Failure to Show Proof of Financial Responsibility and Unsafe Speed.
