Modern Day Rustler Arrested in Chambers County

ANAHUAC, November 17, 2005 - Cattle Rustling or the theft of cattle may be something that the average person hears about in Western movies. However, today, Chambers County Sheriff, Joe LaRive tells i-dineout.com of an arrest of a “modern day” rustler.

According to Sheriff LaRive, Reginald Kirksey, 20 years old, of Anahuac, TX was arrested on November 17, 2005 on three felony counts of theft of livestock.

The arrest comes after a several month investigation by the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office after several cases of cattle rustling in the eastern part of Chambers County were reported.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has also been investigating several thefts of livestock in the Hamshire area.  Both agencies have worked together, and additional charges are expected to be filed against Kirksey, who admitted that he sold the stolen cattle at several sale barns in East Texas.

Kirksey’s bond was set at $45,000.

Sheriff LaRive stated that it is unknown at this time if other people are involved.
