| Hardin Teenager Flown to Houston after One-Vehicle Accident VIDEO in QuickTime
LIBERTY, November 22, 2005 – Around 12:25 AM Tuesday, a passing motorist notified the City of Liberty Police Department of a major, one-vehicle accident on SH 146 just north of the North Main Baptist Church.
According to City of Liberty Police Chief Bill Griffin, the driver of the light blue Hyundai sedan was Kala Jenee Moore age 19 of Hardin. The Liberty Fire Department employed the Jaws of Life to free Moore, who had suffered a head injury in the accident, from the wreckage of her vehicle.
Describing the accident, Chief Griffin stated that Moore’s vehicle left the roadway to the right, crossed a drainage structure going into a sideways skid, collided with a culvert which cause the vehicle to roll over at least twice before coming to rest upright in the ditch. The vehicle traveled 75 to 100 yards after it left the roadway. Moore was transported by Life Flight to Houston for treatment from a landing zone at the accident scene. SH 146 was closed to traffic for over an hour during the extrication and investigation of the accident. According to sources, Moore is a recent graduate of Hardin High School.
