Child Injured in Bathroom Fall

LIBERTY, December 25, 2006 - According to the Department of Health, accidents in the home are the leading cause of death among children aged 0-14 years. In addition, there are many millions of non-fatal accidents each year. Around 2.8 million of them occur in the home, many caused by falls, others by fires.

Late on Christmas Eve, City of Liberty EMS responded to the 1500 block of Edgewood in Liberty.

According to City of Liberty Police, a three-year-old girl had climbed up on the lavatory in the bathroom to wash her hands and fell, striking her head on the ceramic tile floor.

City of Liberty EMS transported the child to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Beaumont for treatment.

The child was in stable condition at the scene prior to transport.
