Accident on SH 146 Sends Two Women to Area Hospitals
LIBERTY, December 14, 2006 - According to Officer Janie Villatoro, a silver Mitsubishi Endeavor was heading south on SH 146 stopped to make a left turn into the Ridgewood Subdivision when it was struck in the rear by a green Ford Taurus around 6:00 PM on Thursday.
The Mitsubishi SUV was driven by Connie Savoy age 32 of Liberty. Savoy is more than 8 months pregnant and was transported to Texas Women’s Hospital in Houston by City of Liberty EMS where she was under a doctor’s care.
The Taurus was driven by Ethel Melonson Ozan age 76 of Lafayette, LA. She was transported by City of Liberty EMS to Liberty Dayton Community Hospital as a precaution.
Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and SH 146 was closed in both directions for more than an hour during the investigation and clean up this accident cause a large traffic snarl.
The continuing investigation by City of Liberty Police will focus on the possibility of Ozan being under the influence of prescription medication.
