Own Your Digital Content FEATURE

LIBERTY, June 18, 2006 – Just a few years ago, before DVD’s and CD’s people could not image owning there music and movies, yet that is exactly what people want to do. They want to own their digital content so that they can play and enjoy it whenever they want.

Previously you had to go to a theater to watch a movie that took time, cost money and was shown only when the theater wanted to run it. We live in a world where it is possible to own your digital content now and enjoy it, through the use of a computer whenever you desire without even leaving your home. To me that’s great.

Time has become in short supply for most people and the cost of travel is rising every day. It concerns me that the hour’s drive to Houston, Beaumont or Humble to see a movie is wasted behind the wheel.  I just don’t have time for it.

One of the reasons for the success of the i-Tunes Music Store is that allows a person to purchase and download digital content because people want to own there movies and music so that they can enjoy them on their own schedule when they want to. It’s also much more convenient than going to a store. You can shop from the leisure of the living room with out the hassle of walking, parking and dealing with rude clerks.

There is another thing about digital content. If the content was good when it was first produced then it will always be good. Music or movies that were good four of five years ago are still good today preserved on plastic disks.

It is for this reason that I rarely purchase a new DVD or CD of anything. I wait until previously purchased DVD’s and CD show up in pawn and resale shops and purchase them for a fraction of their original purchase price. The movie or music will be just as good now as it was when it was produced and there is a lot of digital content out there to be had.

I’ve recently started taking the time to relax and little bit and enjoy some DVD movies that I’ve purchase pre-owned versions of and would like to make some recommendations.

The first is the movie The Manchurian Candidate, starring Denzel Washington and Meryl Steep. It’s a great political thriller that’s very entertaining and a pleasure to watch on weekend afternoon or evening.
Second, try The Bonfire of the Vanities starring, Tom Hanks, Bruce Willis and Melanie Griffith. It’s a great story that deals with many issues and themes from life in the US today. It’s also very funny and entertaining.
Third, try watching, A Beautiful Mind, a Ron Howard Film, winner of 4 Academy Awards including Best Picture, starring Russell Crowe in the lead roll. This is a fact-based thriller about a person who overcomes a life long handicap and succeeds in latter life. I’m sure I’ll be watching this again as this story will never get old.

Have some fun out there. Remember,  we now live in a digital world.
