Driver Ejected in Major Accident VIDEO in QuickTime LIBERTY, December 8, 2006 - City of Liberty EMS and Fire Departments responded to a one-vehicle roll over accident near the intersection of Bowie Street and US 90 around 9:42 PM on Friday.
An employee of HEB in Liberty, Paul Lorts age 18 was returning home to Kenefick after work when the accident occurred.
According to Investigating City of Liberty Police Officer Aaron Venegas the 1989 Dodge truck Lorts was driving left the middle, westbound lane of US 90 crossing into the right lane in a fish tailing motion after passing Crocket Street. The truck struck a utility pole in front of the Inn at Liberty Motel, crashed into an Oldsmobile Station Wagon parked at Lewie’s, rolled over and came to rest upside down. According to investigators, Mr. Lorts was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from his vehicle. City of Liberty EMS transported him from the accident scene to the Helipad at the Liberty Fire Station where he was transferred to the care of Life Flight for transport to Houston’s Hermann Hospital for treatment. Lorts suffered a head injury in the accident and was transported in serious condition.
