Liberty Gets New Police Chief
LIBERTY, December 21, 2006 - The Liberty City Council in its’ meeting Tuesday evening approved the selection of Richard Michael “Mike” Cummings as Police Chief for the City of Liberty.
Cummings is a Retired Houston Police Department Master Police Officer. His career took him to Walnut, IL after retirement where he served as Police Chief and was also the Chief Deputy for the Bureau County Sheriff’s Office in Princeton, IL before returning to Texas and working in Houston.
City Manager, Allen Barnes said, "Mike comes to us with nearly 30 years police experience including 22 years at Houston PD. The appointment of Mike was unanimously confirmed by the Liberty City Council at Tuesday's meeting."
Cummings is scheduled to be on the job in Liberty on January 16, 2006.
