Reckless Driver Apprehended in Liberty LIBERTY, December 18, 2006 - It was shortly before 9:00 PM on Monday when a reckless driver was reported to authorities traveling south on SH 146 from near the overpass in Hardin. The person reporting the black, late model, Chevy pickup observed the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and passing in a no passing zone. The vehicle continued south into the City of Liberty where Officer Aaron Venagas of the City of Liberty Police Department observed the pickup pass two vehicles on North Main Street that appeared to be stationary.
The pickup pulled into the Budget Foods Convenience Store almost colliding with the dumpster on the south side of the store. According to Officer Venagas, there was a strong smell of alcohol inside the pickup and one of the passengers in the pickup was given a field sobriety test during the on scene investigation. Additionally drug paraphernalia was found in the vehicle and was seized for testing.
The driver of the pickup was identified as Weston Kerry Jones age 18 of Hardin. He was taken into custody charged with Reckless Driving. One of the passengers identified as Joshua Kane Tullous age 18 of Hardin was taken into custody charged with Public Intoxication. A second, unidentified passenger in the pickup was not charged.
