Elderly Man Victimized During Holiday Season

LIBERTY, December 6, 2007 - It is particularly troublesome to realize there is no Holiday Season on victimizing the elderly. Such is the case of Hollis Edmondson of Hull, TX who is 84 years old.

Edmondson uses a motorized scooter to get around because he can’t walk long distances while shopping in the Liberty Wal-Mart Super Center. He was in checkout aisle no. 19, in November, sitting in a scooter, when he laid his wallet in his lap after paying for his purchase. He left the check out aisle and the wallet fell on the floor. As he was leaving the check out aisle Edmondson and his son had a conversation with a friend near aisle 19 before exiting the store and realizing the wallet was missing.

Edmondson contacted the City of Liberty Police Department and Wal-Mart Security who pulled the video surveillance tape of aisle 19 and observed the person behind Edmondson in the check aisle pick up the wallet. That person failed to return the wallet to Edmondson or to Wal-Mart Security.

Edmondson lost just under $200.00 cash, credit cars, identification and other personal items in the wallet.

Below is a photo of the person who is alleged to have picked up the wallet as he left the store utilizing the exit near the grocery department.

If you recognized the man in the photo above from the Wal-Mart Security Video please call the City of Liberty Police Department at 936 336-5666 and speak to Lt. Kenneth Taylor who is investigating this case.
