Hardin Retiree Killed in Auto Pedestrian Accident

HARDIN, December 6, 2007 - A Hardin man was killed on SH 146 in a auto pedestrian accident south of Hardin shortly after 4:00 PM on Wednesday.

According to DPS Investigating Troopers, Kenneth Wilton McCarty age 80 of Hardin was killed when he stepped into the northbound lane of traffic while crossing the road attempting to get his dog off the highway, when he was struck by a 1995 Chevy driven by Doris Dean Reddell of Rye, Tx.

McCarty was retired and was pronounced dead at the scene by County Judge Phil Fitzgerald.
