Major Accident on North Main Street LIBERTY, December 14, 2007 - A major accident occurred on North Main Street at the North Main Baptist Church in Liberty around 8:20 PM on Friday.
According to Officer Aaron Venegas of the City of Liberty Police Department a white GMC Yukon traveling north on North Main Street missed the south driveway leading to the North Main Baptist Church. It then traveled the short distance to the north driveway where it attempted a left turn into the parking lot directly in the path of a southbound Nissan sedan.
The vehicles collided in the southbound lane causing major damage to both vehicles.
According to accident reports the driver of the Yukon was Debra Moore age 49 of Liberty and the driver of the Nissan sedan was Chelsey Rider Harlow age 22 of Kinder, LA. Moore’s two passengers, her mother and sister were both transported to Liberty Dayton Community Hospital in stable condition along with the driver of the Nissan sedan by City of Liberty EMS. The accident closed the southbound lane of traffic for about one hour. According to Officer Venegas the accident remains under investigation with the possibility of Moore receiving a citation for an Unsafe Turn.
