Man Upset Over Break Up Kills Himself

DAYTON, December 16, 2007 - Liberty County Sheriff’s Department investigators were summoned to CR 6052 on Saturday afternoon to investigate the death of a 29 year old, Hispanic man who had recently broken up with his common law wife.

According to Sgt. Investigator Pete Villa of LCSO, Francisco Pineda was following his common law wife closely as she drove to her parent’s house after arguing most of the day. When Pineda’s wife stopped in the roadway in front of her parent’s house, Pineda rammed her car with his vehicle pushing it several feet down the roadway.

Pineda’s wife fled the vehicle and ran toward her parent’s house. According to Villa, as she was running she turned and saw, Pineda, upset over the break up with his wife, placed the barrel of a small caliber rifle in his mouth and pulled the trigger. Pineda was killed instantly.

The couple had at least two children.

Justice of the Peace Burl Thomas conducted an inquest at the scene and ordered an autopsy. The autopsy was conducted Sunday morning and the cause of death was listed as a suicide.
