Major Accident on US 90 at Layl Drive LIBERTY, December 28, 2007 - A major accident that sent five people to area hospitals occurred on US 90 at Layl Drive shortly after 4:00 PM on Friday.
According to Officer Michael Baker of the City of Liberty Police Department a late model blue Lexus sedan was traveling eastbound on the eastbound shoulder of US 90 when it attempted a U-turn. The Lexus turned directly in front of an eastbound Nissan Titan pickup and was hit broad side.
The driver of the Lexus was Michael Lynn Ray age 55 of Houston. Ray suffered a head injury and was transported to the Helipad behind the fire station on Lakeland Drive and evacuated by air by PHI Air Ambulance.
The Titan pickup was driven by Brian James Ste-Marie age 28 of Humble. His wife and three small children were all transported by ambulance to Liberty Dayton Community Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Traffic was slowed near the accident scene on US 90.
Ray was issued a citation for Unsafe Turn.
