Driver Makes it Home LIBERTY, December 25, 2007 - A Liberty man was lucky to make it home after he collided with a utility pole in the 500 block of Davidge in Liberty around 2:06 AM Christmas morning.
According to Officer Frank Longoria of the City of Liberty Police Department Jose Isabel Rojas age 19 of Robbie Street in Liberty was able to drive the few blocks home after colliding with the utility pole and taking down a cyclone fence.
Rojas suffered injuries to the face and head in the accident . When City of Liberty Ambulance Medics arrived at Rojas’ home on Robbie Street they decided he should be transfer to Hermann Hospital in Houston. Life Flight landed at the helipad at the fire station on Lakeland Drive and flew Rojas to Houston.
According to Longoria, Rojas had a passenger at the time of the accident but he was nowhere to be found. When the Chevy Z 71 pickup hit the pole power was momentarily interrupted to a large portion of the north part of the city but came back on quickly. According to Longoria, Rojas will receive citations for No Driver’s License and Unsafe Speed. Alcohol may have been a factor and the continuing investigation into the cause of this accident will focus on where additional alcohol related charges would be filed.
