Major Accident on North Main Street LIBERTY, December 12, 2007 - A two-vehicle accident occurred on North Main Street at Mizzell Road, just north of the SH 146 Bypass shortly after 6:00 PM on Wednesday.
According to Officer Rolando Aguilar of the City of Liberty Police Department, a Red Ford SUV pulled out onto North Main Street and stalled directly in the path of an oncoming Mercury Marquis traveling north.
The Mercury Marquis was driven by Jimmy Lloyd Harwell age 50 of Hardin. Harwell was transported by City of Liberty Ambulance to Liberty Dayton Community Hospital in stable condition suffering an injury to his head. The driver of the Ford SUV was Francisco Rojas Tovar age 19 of Liberty. Tovar and a 10-year-old boy in the SUV were not injured in the accident. According to Officer Aguilar, Tovar will receive citations for Failed to Yield Right of Way at a Stop Sign and No Driver’s License. Both vehicles were insured. Additionally Tovar’s sister will receive a citation for Allowing an Unlicensed Driver to Operate a Motor Vehicle. Tovar has recently arrived from Mexico. Traffic on North Main Street was restricted to one lane for about one hour while this accident was investigated and the roadway cleared.
