Missing Oilfield Charges     

CLEVELAND, April 10, 2008 - On the afternoon of April 09, 2008, a local oilfield company lost a 64 quart cooler out of the back of a truck, somewhere in the area of County Road 337 and State Highway 321, near Cleveland. 

Inside the cooler was a cardboard box which contained several “oilfield shaped charges”.  Some of the charges have been recovered.  A search is underway for the cooler and its remaining contents.  While the charges are normally stable for transport and handling by trained personnel, they should be treated as potential hazards because they are out of their normal, controlled environment.

The cooler is described as: a 64 quart capacity with a beige top, dark green bottom, and metal handles on the sides.  The charges contained in the cardboard box are described as: small, bell-shaped, brass-colored, with two prongs on the top of each one.  Anyone finding the green cooler or the cardboard box containing the small bell-shaped charges, is asked to leave them where they are, and contact the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department at 936-336-4500, or Liberty County Emergency Management at 936-334-3219.

Liberty County Sheriff Greg Arthur stated his office grateful for the cooperation and response from Chief Ike Hines and the Cleveland Police Department, the Cleveland Fire Department, Liberty County Emergency Management Coordinator Ken DeFoor, and the oilfield services company as they search for the missing oilfield charges.
