Hospital District Hits Bump in the Road

LIBERTY, April 12, 2008 – It is apparent that the goal of the Hospital District is to bring a new medical facility and better health care to the South Liberty County Community.

Some months ago Hospital District Board President Bruce Stratton of Liberty spoke to i-dineout.com about encouraging discussions he had with a medical group called Blackhawk. Stratton praised the accomplishments of this group sighting what this group had done in other communities.

At the last Hospital District Board meeting Blackhawk was placed on the agenda for the meeting in order to discuss and present a proposal to the board.

Before the meeting was to occur Frontier Medical, the owners of the present hospital on North Travis, held private discussions entering into an agreement with Blackhawk.

Shortly before the last meeting of the Hospital District Board, representatives of Frontier Medical called and informed the Hospital District Board that Blackhawk would not be coming to the meeting and making a presentation to the Hospital District Board.

The biggest hurtle and cost that the Hospital District Board may face in bringing a new facility to South Liberty County may be dealing with the owners of our existing hospital.

The next meeting of the Hospital Distirct Board will be held on Monday, April 14, 2008 at 6:00 PM at Board offices at 624 Fannin, Liberty, TX.
