Major Accident on US 90 East of Devers DEVERS, March 23, 2008 - The Devers Volunteer Fire Department and Liberty County EMS were dispatched to the scene of a two vehicle major accident on US 90 a few miles east of Devers on Sunday around 8:35 PM.
According to DPS Trooper Troy Dyson, an eastbound, older model, Buick Park Avenue, with paper tags cross the centerline and struck a westbound Ford Taurus, driven by Ronald Hayes age 48 of Spring, TX.
Both Ronald Hayes and his wife, Angie Hayes age 39 suffered several minor injuries to the upper body and neck and were transported by Liberty County EMS to Liberty Dayton Community Hospital in stable condition. Traffic quickly backed up in both directions and the highway was completely shut down for about 90 minutes while this accident was investigated and the wreckage removed from the roadway.
Henry had a 14 year-old juvenile passenger in his vehicle at the time of the accident. Neither Henry nor his passenger was injured. They were returning home to Beaumont after attending the Easter Rodeo at the TVE Fairgrounds in Liberty Sunday afternoon. According to the DPS Crime Records Service, Henry has prior arrests and convictions on numerous charges including, Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Failure to Identify as a Fugitive from Justice, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Driving While License Invalid.
