UPDATE on Baby Hope Neault LIBERTY, March 7, 2008 - It’s been several days since we updated the condition of Hope Neault a newborn patient at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston. The good news is that during this time she has gained 14 ozs. She is now 1 lb., 14 oz. and appears to be improving.
Hope’s parents, DPS Trooper Jamie Neault and Catrina send the following encouraging message about Hope’s condition. Today is Friday the 7th. Hope weighed in at 1 lb 14oz, and 13 inches long. She gained 2ozs last night. Hope is 4 weeks and 3 days old. Today Hope was able to be held by Catrina again, but this time for 2 hours, she does so well on her mother. Hope is tolerating her feedings. The doctors have decided to let Hope continue with her 1 ml of food. Her digestive system is working, and Hope continued to “go” on her own last night and very early this morning. Hope continues to be on her respirator, but is constant with the pressures and oxygen percent. We were very exited to see that last night; the nurse removed another IV line from Hope’s right arm. So again she is down to the one IV line, which is the “pick” line. The “pick” line, is the line that goes right to Hope’s heart. More good news, Hope only has to have blood drawn from her 3 times a week. Just 3 days ago she was on blood draw every 6 hours. They had removed the IV from her right arm last week, but had put it back when she had her belly problem and needed blood samples more often. Yesterday the doctors decided that her blood and oxygen tests are normal again, so no need to take blood from her every 6 hours, so they had the IV taken out. Hope had a very good night last night, and a very good day today. We are praying for the next 24hours to be good for Hope. See related stories… Trooper's Baby Needing Blood Donations
