Baby Hope’s Money Taken

LIBERTY, April 5, 2008 - We have reported on the condition of Baby Hope Neault since the time of her birth some weeks ago. You may recall that Baby Hope was born severely under weight and today remains in Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston. Baby Hope's twin sister, Faith did not survive.

The City of Liberty Police Department reported this week a theft of Baby Hope’s money at the Chevron Convenience Store on Wallisville Road at US 90 in Liberty.

The store, using a large pickle jar, was collecting funds for Baby Hope’s care in the hospital through donations made by customers.

According to Police around 1:00 AM on Monday, March 24, 2008 a four black males entered the store and while three distracted the clerk, one grabbed Baby Hope’s donations and fled the store. The group was thought to be driving a gold Buick or Oldsmobile, perhaps a LaSabre or Century. It is thought there was about $200.00 in the jar at the time it was stolen.

According to Officer Aaron Ewing, the jar has not been recovered and encourages anyone with information about the suspects who took the money, the location of the jar or the vehicle the group left in, to contact the him at the City of Liberty Police Department at 936 336-5666. The public’s help is needed to solve this crime.

Anyone wishing to make a donation for Baby Hope may do so at the Prosperity Bank in Liberty.
