Major Head On Crash on FM 1409 WESTALKE, April 8, 2008 - A head-on collision on FM 1409 at CR 401 happened Tuesday around 9:00 pm. According to DPS Trooper Hussie, a green Ford Explorer driven by Alicia Johnson 25 of Dayton was traveling southbound on FM 1409.
Johnson told Trooper Hussie that a possum had ran out in front of her and she served to avoid it. Her truck was all the way over in the northbound lane in the grass at the time of impact. Johnson had two passengers, Marilyn Fizeo and a young child.
Johnson was transported by Life Flight to Hermann Hospital and Fizeo was taken by EMS to an area hospital and the child who was in an infant safety seat was unharmed. The grey Ford Ranger was traveling northbound on FM 1409 driven by Hector Corona of LaGrange Texas. He saw the Explorer and tried to take evasive action skidding 30-40 feet before impact.
Life Flight flew Corona to Hermann Hospital with a badly broken leg and other unknown injuries. A witness Daniel Vanlandingham of Dayton traveling behind the Ford Explorer stated Johnson had passed him in a high rate of speed just moments before the accident occurred. He estimated her speed at that time to be 80-85 mph. By Marie Henson
