Accident in Hardin Sends 5 to Area Hospital HARDIN, April 7, 2008 – An accident in Hardin on SH 146 sent five people to Liberty Dayton Hospital around 4:00 PM on Monday.
According to DPS Trooper Jaime Neault, a dark blue Ford pickup traveling north on SH 146 miss a turn and pulled to the side of the road to turn around. The pickup attempted a U-turn directly in the path of a northbound white Chevy pickup. The Chevy pickup struck the Ford in the left rear quarter.
According to Trooper Neault, all five occupants of the Ford Pickup including the driver were transported by ambulance to Liberty Dayton Hospital non-life threatening injuries. The accident occurred near the Hardin Water Supply Office just north of FM 834. The driver of the Ford pickup was Maria Gomez age 52 of Liberty. Her passengers were Josefa Borrego age 30, Linda Borrego age 12, Joseph Garcia age 3 and Joselyn Gomez age 15. The driver and only occupant of the Chevy pickup was Mathew Haywood age 17 of Daisetta. Luckily he was not injured. According to Trooper Neault, Maria Gomez will receive a citation for Left Turn When Unsafe.
