Driver Puts Suburban in Wrong Gear

LIBERTY, April 6, 2008 – A driver in the parking lot of a shopping center in the 1900 block of North Main put her Suburban in drive instead of reverse and crashed through the wall of two adjacent businesses.

Officers who responded to the scene were concerned about the structural integrity of the building and summoned the fire department who erected a barrier to protect anyone entering the building.

The accident occurred around 7:30 PM on Sunday.

The driver of the Suburban was Octaviana Mata age 39 of Dayton. She is the owner of Novedades Blanca adjacent to the two businesses that sustained damage in the accident.

Both Rogers Cleaners and the Daniel Hearing Aid Center received damage to their storefronts and entrances during the accident.

Mata was insured and there were no citations issued since the accident occurred on private property.
