Free Nutritional Classes

LIBERTY, April 29, 2008 - Texas AgriLife Extension Service – Liberty County, Better Living of Texas and the Pregnancy Care Clinic of Dayton are sponsoring Free Nutrition Classes on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Classes will be held at the Pregnancy Care Center at 303 S. Winfree in Dayton.

You and your family can learn to:

*choose foods that are inexpensive and good to eat
*make your favorite food with less fat and sugar
*how to fix meals that will keep your family healthy
*healthy menu choices
*the difference in saturate fat, trans-fat, cholesterol and
salt/sodium in diets.
*sugar alcohols
*food pyramid for youth and adults
*serving more fruits and vegetables and less soda and other “junk”
foods to
your families
*unit pricing to help stretch your food dollar
*understanding food labels
*comparing prices
*serving/portion size
*safe cooking and storage temperatures
*food borne illness
*pack safe lunches for children
*how to curve impulse buying
