Tarkington Responds to Brush Fire on Sunday

TARKINGTON, April 15, 2008 - Brush fires are a problem for area fire departments as dry weather continues.

Sunday afternoon shortly after midday, Tarkington firefighters were dispatched to a report of a brush fire on CR3011.

Units arrived on scene to find approximately one-half acre of woods on fire.  Aided by the high winds that often fanned the flames to over six feet high, the fire eventually spread to nearly one acre and threatened several homes before being brought under control.

Thick underbrush that limited access to the area and provided fuel for the fire hindered firefighters fighting this fire.
