Three Injured in ATV Accident KENEFICK, April 26, 2008 - Around 8:00 PM Friday an accident involving a ATV and a pick-up truck pulling a lowboy trailer occurred when the ATV and trailer collided. Jerry McDaniel, the driver of the pickup, stated that he was entering the intersection of CR 6479 and 6473 in Kenefick when the ATV loaded with three juveniles disregarded the stop sign and crashed into the trailer. McDaniel’s’ state that the ATV was traveling at a high rate of speed and he could not avoid the accident.
DPS State Trooper Troy Dyson stated that Carl Watkins, age16 of Kenefick was driving the older model Quad Runner ATV on the roadway, which is unlawful.
Watkins sustained a possible broken elbow and was transported to San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown in stable condition.
Donnie Delafante, age 15 was riding on the back of the ATV. He was transported by Life Flight to Hermann Hospital with unknown injuries in stable condition. Ryan Stephens age 14 was riding in the front cargo rack of the ATV. Stephens landed on the top of the trailer. Stephens was also flown by Life Flight to Hermann Hospital in Houston with a possible broken back and other unknown injuries, his condition not known at this time. by Marie Henson
