Head On Collision on FM 1960

DAYTON, April 19, 2008 – A major accident occurred on FM 1960 in front of the Chevron Convenience Store on FM 1960 just west of Dayton shortly before 5:00 PM Saturday.

According to Sgt. Doug O’Quinn of the Dayton Police Department, a Ford F 150 was traveling eastbound on FM 1960 and moved into the westbound lane to attempt a Left turn into the convenience store directly in the path of oncoming traffic.

The pickup was struck head on by a red Shelby Mustang that had been on exhibit in the Car Show at the Dayton Ole Tyme Days.  The driver of the Mustang, Jarred Lawrence Hammonds age 19 of Dayton suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the pickup, Clarence Douglas Walker age 43 of Dayton suffered facial injuries and was the transported by Liberty County EMS to San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.

According to investigating Officer Kenny Broyles of the Dayton Police Department, Walker will receive citations for No Insurance, Expired Driver’s License and Failure to Yield Right of Way Turning Left.
