Two Vehicle Accident on FM 160

AMES, March 24, 2008 – An accident that could easily have been much more serious occurred today on FM 160 at Church Street in Ames around 3:20 PM.

One of the vehicles involved had three small children as passengers.

According to DPS Trooper Chad Blackburn, a non-contact vehicle was traveling south on FM 160 approaching Church Street when a Chevy pickup that failed to control speed approached behind the non-contact vehicle. The Chevy pickup took evasive action by moving into the northbound lane of traffic where it struck a red Dodge pickup with three small children as passengers traveling north.

The Chevy pickup was driven by Mathew Kevin Jackson age 31 of Dayton and the red Dodge Pickup was driven by Jennifer Rose Yuen age 27 of Liberty.

Although ambulances were dispatched to the scene no one required transport to the hospital. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage in the near head on collision.

According to Trooper Blackburn Jackson will receive a citation for Failure to Control Speed.
