This tragic fire took the life of Terri Mahaffey age 47 of Liberty. Ms. Mahaffey’s daughter Cara and grandson Kendrick escaped the burning structure.

The owner of the home Mr. Chuck Snyder was away at the time of the fire and arrived on the scene to find his home going up in flames.

According to Liberty Fire Chief Fred Collins it has been approximately eight years since someone lost their life in a house fire in the City of Liberty.

Aggravating firefighters efforts was a propane bottle on the porch of the home that exploded sending flames on the manufactured home's center portion accelerating the fire.

Two Liberty Fire Fighters suffered minor burns, were treated at the scene and returned to join fellow fire fighters fighting the fire.

At press time the fire remains under investigation and as of yet its’ cause is undetermined.
